Bank of America Pays $410M To Settle Overdraft Fee Claims

Bank Of America Corp.

Bank of America agrred to pay $410 million to settle multidistrict litigation claims that it assessed its customers excessive overdraft fees.  Bank of America is just one of a number of banks targeted in the MDL suit for overcharging for overdrafts. In late 2008,  the first class action complaints we filed against Bank of America and Wachovia Bank. More than a dozen other suits against those and other defendants followed. Bank of America was specifically accused of holding back transactions and processing them in one batch to create multiple overdrafts and, subsequently, multiple overdraft fees. Bank of America also promoted electronic transactions and made it difficult for customers to access accurate balance information.
